“Working with Katie was a delight. Her infectious enthusiasm helped propel the events. The players who worked with Katie on the “Drive-by Violas” project established a bond that carried over into the rehearsals for her larger string orchestra piece “What Goes On in the Ether” and spread through the orchestra. The look of delight on people’s faces upon seeing “Drive-by Violas” was immediate. Some did a double take and stopped to listen. Others walked by and smiled as though this was an expected perk of living in a city of creative artists. It was nice to get fresh feedback as opposed to being in the more formal environment of the concert hall. In a market saturated with concert events, this one captured the media’s imagination. I believe it made people think about and appreciate the role of live music in our society.”
