Katrina Wreede was “Composer in the Schools” for the American Composers Forum from 1998-2004, created and taught the “Junior Composers” Program for the Berkeley Symphony, has been in residence or visiting artist at Boston Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, the Polytechnic High School @ Cal Tech, Lick-Wilmerding High School, Rafer Johnson Middle School, Oakland High School, Albany High School, the San Francisco School District Music Teachers In-service, Nevada County Music Teachers In-service, San Francisco’s Community Music Center (with a grant called “Music for People to Play”), Junior Jazz Camp for the Sierra Jazz Society, and has coached the California Youth Symphony, Oakland Youth Symphony, Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, and Berkeley Youth Symphony, who also commissioned a piece from her. She was a presenting artist at the 2004 and 2005 National Conventions for the American String Teachers Association, demonstrating some of the games used to create Composing Together. She is a former member of the Turtle Island String Quartet. Her compositions are played internationally by ensembles including the Ahn Trio and David Parsons Dance Group.
